Hey, Soos! #2

Hey, Soos!

What do you like the most about nature? I took a long trek on one of the tails earlier today and got to thinking about the beauty of the natural world. My eyes try to take in all of the different colors, shapes, hues and whatnot that make up the trees, trails, flowers and sky. Even seemingly useless grass can be interesting (rarely).

I think my love of nature helped inspire my passion for photography. My point of view is unlike any other, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t share it with the rest of the world. When it comes to nature, I prefer to look up. I look up at the trees with branches that twist and turn in unexpected patterns. Driving out West three years ago, I was astounded by the massive statures of the Rocky Mountains. And then there’s the ocean—the Mother of them all. Oceans are not only wide; they are also deep. And I mean, deep deep. So much of them are unexplored —there could be gargantuan beasts down there and we would never know about them. Is that terrifying? ABSOLUTELY. But I think in a way, it’s still something beautiful.

Being surrounded by nature is a reminder of how small I am. And that’s not a bad thing. To me, it means that I don’t have to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. I am simply a brushstroke on this massive canvas that encompasses life. And I’ll be sure to be the best brushstroke that I can be, and contribute great things to this picture.

What about nature makes you sit back and wonder at its magnificence? I think you have the most unique point of view on the matter since you had some input in the design. I just want to say—great job on that one! There’s no doubt that you have a good eye for the beautiful things.

Even though I’m small, it’s nice to know that I can still come to you with my many words and thoughts. Thank you for your rapt attention. I’ll write to you again soon.
